Sony's latest State of Play broadcast delivered the most anticipated reveal of the year: Ghost of Tsushima 2, the open-world sequel from Sucker Punch, will launch on March 15, 2027. The 40-minute presentation also unveiled a standalone Horizon multiplayer title, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4 in partnership with Konami, and a smaller batch of indie titles for the PSN storefront.
Ghost of Tsushima 2
The sequel moves the action from Tsushima Island to the mainland Hokkaido region, introduces a new protagonist, and adds a co-op mode for up to three players. Sucker Punch says the game will run at 60fps on PS5 Pro and 30fps on base hardware, with ray-tracing enabled throughout. The combat system has been rebuilt around stance-switching with new weapon types.
"We wanted Ghost of Tsushima 2 to feel like the first game with the volume turned up. Hokkaido is bigger, more varied, and the combat rewards mastery in ways the original only hinted at," said creative director Nate Fox.
Horizon Multiplayer Spin-Off
Guerrilla Games revealed a standalone multiplayer title set in the Horizon universe, focused on cooperative monster-hunting for up to four players. It will launch in late 2027 as a free-to-play title with optional cosmetics. Sony Interactive Entertainment says live-service revenue is now a strategic priority, and the Horizon IP has the global recognition to anchor that effort.
