Reimagine Robotics emerged from stealth today with systems that "learn on the job" - meaning they do not require specialized programmers to deploy, the Robot Report reported on August 3. The company was founded by former leaders of Google DeepMind's Applied Robotics group and is taking a different approach to industrial humanoid deployment.

What's Different

Most industrial robots today require specialized programmers to set up and maintain. Each new task requires writing custom code, configuring sensors, and tuning the robot's behavior. Reimagine's approach is to let robots learn new tasks by watching human demonstrations and by trial-and-error in deployment. The system uses foundation models trained on a large corpus of robot manipulation data, then fine-tunes them on each customer's specific tasks.

Why It Matters

The cost of robot programming has been one of the biggest barriers to humanoid deployment in industry. A typical industrial-robot installation requires weeks of programming and integration. Reimagine's approach aims to cut that to hours, dramatically expanding the addressable market. If successful, it would also reduce the dependency on a small pool of expert robotics engineers.

Backing and Plans

Reimagine has raised an undisclosed seed round from a syndicate that includes several former DeepMind colleagues and a handful of robotics-focused VCs. The company is hiring across engineering, ML, and operations. Initial deployments are focused on warehouse and light-manufacturing customers, with a broader commercial launch planned for 2027.
