Index Ventures closed $2 billion across three new funds, Sifted reported on August 1 — a new $400 million seed fund, a $900 million venture fund, and $700 million added to its growth vehicle, which now totals $2.2 billion. The haul brings Index's deployable capital to $3.5 billion as the firm leans harder into AI startups ahead of an anticipated wave of AI listings.

A Busy Week for Fundraising

Index was far from alone: Highland Europe closed a €1.1 billion (~$1.27 billion) sixth growth fund, and Jump Capital secured $350 million for AI and cybersecurity investments the same week, according to industry announcements. The fundraising sprint signals that late-stage capital remains abundant even as exit markets stay selective.

Index said its new funds will back mission-critical software across AI infrastructure, agentic applications, and fintech, with seed-stage cheques reserved for the earliest technical teams, per Sifted.

Where the Money Goes

The raise comes as European startups post record AI funding totals and as London and Paris solidify their positions as the region's premier AI hubs. Index, which was an early backer of OpenAI rival Mistral and a long list of European enterprise software winners, said the new vehicles give it flexibility to write cheques from seed through growth without syndicating as heavily.
