China's Unitree Robotics has priced its Shanghai STAR Market initial public offering at 150.80 yuan per share, setting up the mainland's first robotics IPO as it seeks to raise roughly $904 million. Reuters reported on August 6 that the offering prices Unitree at about a $9 billion valuation, and China Daily confirmed the per-share price the same day.
The Numbers
Bloomberg reported on August 6 that Unitree is seeking $904 million in what it called the first mainland robotic IPO, and China Daily put the price at 150.80 yuan per share. Global Times reported that DeepSeek, the AI company, has become a strategic placement investor in the deal — a notable crossover between China's two hottest tech sectors.
Fast-Moving Deal
The deal moved quickly through the pricing process. On August 5, Global Times reported that Unitree had kicked off STAR Market IPO pricing with a valuation expected to exceed $5.9 billion, and Caixin said initial bids implied up to 55 billion yuan. By August 6, Reuters had the final pricing at a $9 billion valuation, with finimize calling it a Shanghai IPO for its humanoid robots.
Why It Matters
Unitree is one of the most visible humanoid-robot companies in the world, known for quadruped and biped robots that have gone viral online and drawn comparisons to Boston Dynamics. A successful listing would give China's robotics sector a flagship public company and could accelerate investment across the humanoid supply chain — motors, actuators, sensors and software.
