ibi, the data-analytics spinoff of Tibco that has operated independently since its 2022 carve-out, unveiled an enterprise agentic AI engine at its annual customer summit in Las Vegas on August 21, 2026. The platform, called ibi AgentStudio, combines ibi's existing iBase data fabric with a new agent orchestration layer and ships to general availability on October 14. The launch puts ibi into direct competition with Salesforce Agentforce, ServiceNow's Now Assist, and Microsoft's Copilot Studio in the fast-crowding market for mid-market workflow automation agents.
What ibi Shipped
AgentStudio is built around three components. The first, Agent Designer, is a low-code visual builder modeled on ibi's longstanding Spotfire X authoring environment. Customers can compose agents from a catalog of 180 pre-built "skills" — each wrapping a discrete data or system action — and can also define custom skills in Python. The second, Agent Runtime, is the orchestration engine; it handles state, memory, tool calling, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints. The third, Agent Governance, is a policy and audit layer that records every tool call, every prompt, and every model output for compliance review. All three run on a hybrid deployment model: customers can host the control plane on ibi's cloud or in their own VPC, while the model inference can route to any of the four leading frontier-model providers, to an open-source model served locally, or to a combination of both.
Why Mid-Market Matters
ibi's positioning is explicitly mid-market — the 1,500 to 15,000 employee range that Salesforce and ServiceNow historically underserve because their sales motion is tuned for Fortune 1000 accounts. ibi has roughly 4,200 customers in that band today, mostly in financial services, retail, and manufacturing, and the AgentStudio GA price point of $45 per agent per month is roughly one-third the price of comparable Salesforce Agentforce SKUs. ibi CEO Dan Maycock told Yahoo Finance the company expects 30% of its installed base to adopt AgentStudio within the first 12 months — a target that, if met, would add $58 million in ARR.
The Competitive Picture
The agentic AI platform market is now crowded enough that analyst firm Gartner has formally added it to its Hype Cycle for AI, in the "Peak of Inflated Expectations" quadrant for 2026. The five vendors most often named are Salesforce (Agentforce), ServiceNow (Now Assist), Microsoft (Copilot Studio), Google (Vertex AI Agents), and a tie for fifth between IBM (watsonx Orchestrate) and UiPath (the Maestro platform from the 2024 acquisition). ibi joins the leaderboard at number seven in most preliminary rankings, behind Palantir (AIP) but ahead of several smaller pure-plays. ibi's differentiation is its data-fabric heritage: iBase has been the analytic backbone for retail and supply-chain workloads since the early 2000s, and customers can connect agents to operational data without standing up a separate lakehouse.
What Customers Are Saying
Early-access customers include a US grocery chain that has used AgentStudio to automate 14 of its category-management workflows, and a European bank that has piloted the platform for KYC review. Both customers told ibi's customer summit they have seen 60-70% reductions in manual processing time for the workflows where agents have replaced human hand-offs. The customers are still in pilot, and ibi has not yet published benchmarks. The October GA milestone will determine whether the early results translate into a viable mid-market platform or whether customers will revert to building their own agentic workflows on top of one of the hyperscaler stacks.
What to Watch Through Year-End
Three checkpoints follow. The AgentStudio GA on October 14 will reveal the actual feature set versus what was demoed at the customer summit; in particular, whether the hybrid model-inference routing delivers the latency and reliability benchmarks that mid-market customers expect. ibi's planned Q4 customer event in London, scheduled for November 4-6, will reveal whether European customers adopt at the same pace as US customers. And the company's Q4 FY2027 earnings report, due in February, will show whether the $58 million ARR target is tracking — a leading indicator for whether the agentic AI market has room for a seventh major platform or whether consolidation is coming.
