HubX, a Turkish company that builds and scales mobile apps, has raised up to $75 million in overseas investment from Point72 Private Investments, becoming Turkey's eighth unicorn. The deal includes $50 million now plus an option for another $25 million later, and it values the company at $1.2 billion before the new money, according to Ventureburn.
A Rare Trajectory
Most app companies raise money at the startup stage to hire, run ads, and scale. HubX did the opposite, reaching the round with no prior external funding. The company identifies and acquires underperforming apps, then applies product and growth expertise to scale them worldwide, a model that let it bootstrap to a nine-figure valuation before taking institutional capital.
Turkey's Unicorn Club
The investment makes HubX Turkey's eighth unicorn, joining Trendyol, Getir, Peak Games, and Insider among others. Turkish startups raised $559 million in the first quarter of 2026 alone, about seven times the amount in the same period last year, as investors increasingly view the market through the same lens they once applied to India or Israel.
What the Capital Buys
For HubX, the $75 million funds a shift from building apps in Turkey to buying and scaling them on a global stage. Point72 Private Investments, the private equity arm of Steve Cohen's Point72, is betting the model can compound as HubX applies its playbook across a broader portfolio of mobile products.
