Two-year-old British air defence startup Cambridge Aerospace has hit a $3.4 billion valuation in a $300 million Series C funding round led by US-based investment firm and SpaceX backer DFJ Growth, Sifted reported on August 10. Investors including Lux Capital, Axel, Lakestar and Elad Gil also participated.
A Rapid Rise
The new raise comes only a few months after Cambridge Aerospace announced it had raised $200 million in a Series B round, underscoring how quickly defense tech valuations are compounding as European governments scramble to rebuild air defences.
Why Air Defence Is Hot
Investors and governments are increasingly eager to back air defence systems — those designed to intercept enemy drones and missiles. The startup's two-year sprint from founding to a $3.4 billion valuation reflects a broader shift in European venture capital toward dual-use hardware, where procurement timelines are short and sovereign demand is effectively unlimited.
