Anthropic on Tuesday launched Claude for Small Business, a $50-per-seat-per-month tier that bundles its frontier model with pre-tuned industry agents, native integrations with QuickBooks and HubSpot, and a 99.9% uptime SLA — the company's first direct attempt to take on OpenAI's ChatGPT Business and Microsoft 365 Copilot in the long-tail SMB segment.
What's in the Bundle
The new tier ships with five pre-built agents — a sales call summarizer, a customer-support triage agent, a finance-categorization agent for QuickBooks, a marketing-copy generator tuned for HubSpot, and an HR-policy assistant. Each agent can be edited through a no-code visual builder and connected to additional data sources via Anthropic's existing tool-use API.
「Small businesses have been forced to choose between tools that are too generic and tools that require a six-month implementation. We think the middle is the market,」 said Anthropic COO Brad Lightcap in a call with reporters.
Why It Matters
The SMB segment is the largest by customer count and the most underserved by current AI vendors. According to a recent Gartner survey, only 14% of small businesses pay for any AI tool, but 62% say they would if the price dropped below $75 per seat and the setup took less than a day. Anthropic's offering is priced at the upper end of that range but includes the integrations that pure-model plays like OpenAI have not.
Competitive Landscape
OpenAI's ChatGPT Business is priced at $30 per seat per month but does not include pre-built agents. Microsoft 365 Copilot is priced at $30 per user per month but requires a Microsoft 365 subscription on top, pushing the effective cost closer to $60. Anthropic's bundle, by including five agents and a set of native integrations, is effectively trying to outflank both with a single SKU.
The product is in limited availability today and will roll out broadly on August 12. Anthropic is also launching a partner program for managed-service providers targeting the same segment.
