Adobe has launched Brand Visibility, the first enterprise platform built specifically for Generative Engine Optimization — the discipline of tracking and improving how often a brand is cited by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity. The product is positioned as a counterpart to Adobe's existing analytics stack for traditional web traffic, and reflects how quickly the marketing landscape is being reshaped by the shift from search to conversation.

The Problem Adobe Is Solving

For two decades, brand visibility has been measured primarily through search rankings, paid placements, and on-site analytics. Generative engines disrupt all three. Citation in an AI response is the new top-of-funnel, but the rules for earning it are poorly understood, the data is fragmented across providers, and no widely adopted measurement standard has emerged.

「Marketers spent twenty years learning SEO. They are now starting over, and the stakes are higher because the surface area is wider,」 said an Adobe product lead.

What the Platform Does

Brand Visibility runs a continuous panel of prompts across major generative engines, scores how often the customer's brand is cited, and breaks the results down by product, topic, and competitive set. The output is a visibility score that Adobe says can be tracked over time and benchmarked against competitors. The platform also provides a recommendation engine suggesting content and schema changes that have been shown to improve citation rates in Adobe's panel data.

Why Now

The launch reflects two converging trends. Generative-engine traffic has grown faster than most observers expected; internal estimates shared by Adobe suggest referral traffic from AI assistants is now in the low single digits as a share of total web traffic but rising by roughly 60% year-on-year. And brand teams have been asking for measurement: the existing patchwork of point tools has not scaled.

The Limits

The product is only as good as the panel. Generative engines update frequently, and a measurement methodology that worked last quarter may not work this quarter. Adobe says it is investing in continuous calibration, but acknowledges that customers should treat the visibility score as a directional indicator, not a precise number. The bigger open question is whether citation rates in AI responses will become a meaningful business metric at all, or whether the field will move past generative search entirely within a few years.

For now, Adobe's bet is that for the next several years, brand marketers will want a single dashboard that tells them whether they are showing up in the new places. Brand Visibility is the first serious attempt to build one.
